In Loving Memory "Bailey Brown Barrett" April 28, 2001 - May 18, 2006

Bailey came into our lives, through GPAC, from a racetrack in the USA on July 28, 2003. Juanita and I often laugh between us that, once settled, he wasn't exactly the "poster dog" for Greyhound adoption.

He was far from being a "45 mph couch potato". To the contrary, he always had double the energy and lots in his reserve tank.

Bailey was a very gentle creature. With a little persuasion, he quickly made our home his and defended his "turf", even though it was just for show. He barked at anyone and anything that upset his home and came into his "domain". Be it the doorbell, a neighbour working in their garden or a fast moving car cruising down our street, he'd jump up to the window just to let them know he was there.

He absolutely loved being outdoors. He took grey't pride in leading us, his "pack", throughout his many adventures in Bowring Park. Whether it was during the spring and summer, when he'd get a chance to stop and smell the flowers or in the fall and winter when the winds were cold and the snow piles beckoned, every day was a "New Day" to him and he was determined to enjoy it fully. He was totally enthralled with life. To him, life was something meant to be lived and he spent his time doing it.

From playing with his squeaky toys, to smelling the flowers, to running circles endlessly in our garden and jumping through the snow piles, he always brought a smile to our faces and joy to our hearts. He always knew he was loved and returned it to us many times over.

Bailey was diagnosed with Immune-Mediated Thrombocytopenia, an idiopathic blood disorder, on March 30, 2006. He went to the Rainbow Bridge on May 18, 2006.

He brought Grey't joy to Juanita and I and we miss him terribly. We know he's at the bridge now, together with all his "grey" friends where he's undoubtedly herding them together and being what we lovingly refer to as "GPAC'S Official Greeter".

Even though he's gone from our home, he will always be in our hearts. His smile still warms us to this day and will forever more.

Run Free Bailey. We Love You.

Lovingly remembered and never to be forgotten by Mama, Papa
and his grey brother Jake.
