GRANITE STUDIOS Sponsors Domain Name and Hosting for
Greyhound Pets of Atlantic Canada Web Site

St. John’s, NL, July 16, 2006 - GRANITE STUDIOS have signed up to be the sponsors for the new domain name and hosting of WWW.GPAC-NL.COM, the website for the Newfoundland branch of Greyhound Pets of Atlantic Canada (GPAC).

Most adoptive applicants seek input from the internet as a means of searching for the breed and adoption program that would best meet their needs," says Lynanne Furlong, Branch Representative of GPAC - Newfoundland. "Our own local website helps keep our adoption program and adopters in the province connected with the most up to date information related to GPAC. It helps bring awareness to the plight of the racing greyhound, why greyhounds need adoption and the wonderful pets they make. None of what we do could be possible without such dedicated sponsors like Granite Studios."

GRANTIE STUDIOS designed the Newfoundland GPAC website about three years ago, and have been providing maintenance ever since. They have just recently sponsored the new domain name and hosting for the local GPAC web site, WWW.GPAC-NL.COM. Granite Studios has offered to provide website maintenance and hosting and cover all associated costs. GRANITE STUDIOS is a network of freelance artists. They assemble project-specific teams - working with associate graphic designers, PR/Media experts, layout editors, web technicians, writers and photographers, as well as with effects artists and I.T. GRANITE STUDIOS also contributes the design of all print media for GPAC, including the design of posters and advertisements for the GPAC annual fund raiser - the Greyhound Picnic. For the past two years, they have donated portraits and artwork to this event. This years Greyhound Picnic is scheduled for Sunday, August 20th at the Shrine Club on Topsail Road and promises to be the most fun-filled family event for animal lovers.
BACKGROUNDER
Greyhound Pets of Atlantic Canada (GPAC) is a Canadian registered non-profit society. GPAC is primarily located in Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia, with a branch in Newfoundland and Labrador. GPAC is a 100% volunteer-driven organization and as of January 2006, have placed over 1000 greyhounds into loving homes throughout Atlantic Canada.
From humble beginnings, GPAC was founded in the early 1990's by Jeanette Reynolds. In 1998, the first greyhound named Darcy was brought to Newfoundland and Labrador by Pat Cowan. This was the beginning of the GPAC branch here in the province. The organization has since flourished with over 150 greyhounds in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The long-term goal of the Newfoundland and Labrador branch of GPAC is to maintain an on-site kennel that would accommodate extra dogs. We have several fund raising activities throughout the year to help this cause. Proceeds from these activities go directly back to GPAC and also help to subsidize airfare for the dogs to Newfoundland and Labrador and help care for foster dogs.
